never a dull moment
We’re always coming up with new ideas and new activities to offer our participants. Here are just a few that we enjoy regularly.
Baking and cooking: The sense of purpose and meaning found in a cooking activity cannot be matched. Small groups enjoy the camaraderie and reminiscing that occurs when baking together.
Games: Charades, crossword puzzles, trivia games, horseshoes, indoor bowling and balloon volleyball are just a few of the many games we enjoy.
Intergenerational Relationships: With nearby preschools, we are pleased to welcome children into our center several times a year.
Spiritual Pursuits: As people age, their dedication to spiritual beliefs often remains unchanged. We offer several options for our participants to continue worshipping in their personal style. Rosary group, Bible study, hymn signs, and communion are celebrated regularly, with other religious holidays recognized throughout the year.
Pet Therapy: The warmth of an animal often provides unparalleled comfort. Visits from gentle animals soothe the body and mind, ward off loneliness, and offer distraction from pain and discomfort. Twinkles, our resident pet, is a white lop-eared rabbit who works wonders on restless and anxious participants.
Horticulture: Working with plants can stimulate the mind and body. After the hard work of planting, comes the joy of watching blossoms and fruit appear.
Entertainment: Several performers visit our centers each month to perform for us. Bill and Carol Lea’s Country Band and Ed the Music Man entertain us regularly with their songs and performances. Several local choirs and dance teams also bring us their talents each year.
