much more than sing-alongs

Music therapy is far more than sing-alongs. Our participants sing, dance, play instruments, talk about music they like, reminisce about the role of music in their lives, and listen to various kinds of music.

Goals of a Music Therapy session:

  1. Incorporate a social aspect
  2. Include something educational about music
  3. Involve something physical
  4. Make the activities cognitively challenging

With these goals in mind, our full-time music therapist, Penny Hatrick, tailors each session for the individuals involved, appealing to their relationships, interests, and abilities. Penny works with each program group several times each week and leads additional music groups throughout the year.”
